ABOUT ME

Dr. Raquel Cumeras is the Head of the Advanced Metabolomics team at GIOTEC group from the Insititut d’Investigaciió Sanitària Pere Virgili (IISPV), Spain.

She is also affiliated to the Metabolomics interdisciplinary group at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), Spain.

Her Ph.D. thesis in Physics in 2013 received the Outstanding Ph.D. thesis award. After her PhD studies on Microelectronics sensors, she acquired Metabolomics expertise in abroad 45-months stages in the USA, partially thanks to being awarded a competitive European Marie Skłodowska–Curie fellowship (based on colorectal cancer biomarkers discovery with metabolomics tools).

RESEARCH LINES:

(1) Discovery of physiopathological biomarkers with a focus on oncology and the interplay between different omics

APPLICATION # 1: Diagnostic biomarkers of Colorectal Cancer (CRC)
APPLICATION # 2: Metabolomics as a prognostic factor for response and survival of Nonhodgkin’s Lymphomas.
APPLICATION # 3: Biomarkers for risk and susceptibility in hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) syndrome
APPLICATION # 4: Metabolomics as a prognostic factor for response and survival in nonsmall cell lung cancer treated with immunotherapy
APPLICATION # 5: Other cancers

(2) Development of methods, databases, software and tools for biomedicine

APPLICATION # 1: Software for metabolomics (like GcDuo)
APPLICATION # 2: Tools for metabolomics data analysis intercomparison (like Metabolite Merging Strategy and Amanida/Easy-Amanida meta-analysis tools )
APPLICATION # 3: Databases (like Life Fluids database, the first multiomics human database)
APPLICATION # 4: Methods (specific experimental methods developed)

She is co-chair of the reference and test materials working group (RTMWG) from the metabolomics Quality Assurance and Quality Control Consotrium (mQACC), and an active member of several scientific societies and consortiums.
